What is Census Date?

Census dates are the basis of many university deadlines. If you are enrolled in a course once the course census date passes, you will remain liable for the full tuition and associated fees for that course.
The following standard census dates apply at ANU:
  • First Semester Census Date is 31 March
    • Semester 1, 2020 Census Date was moved to 8 May. For more information, please visit this page
  • Second Semester Census Date is 31 August

Changes to key dates in 2020

The Withdrawn with Failure (WN) date has been removed for 2020.

The last day to withdraw from Semester 2, 2020 courses without failure (WD) is now Wednesday 4 November.

The Withdrawn with Failure (WN) date has been removed for Semester 2, 2020 to allow additional time for you to decide if you're comfortable with continuing to study your course/s without the pressure of academic penalty.

This means any course dropped by 4 November will show up on your academic transcript as a 'WD' grade. This will not affect your Grade Point Average (GPA).  You will also be financially liable for the course.

For more information or advice, please contact Student Central or your Academic College.
