Thank you for supporting our ANU community

08 Jul 2022

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Staff Relief Fund. You epitomise what it means to be a compassionate and strong University community.

2020 was a time of great challenge. Recognising that some ANU staff were facing urgent and unexpected financial hardship because of COVID-19, the ANU community decided to take action.

The Staff Relief Fund was established, and 86 ANU donors came together to ensure our University colleagues can have access to vital financial support during difficult and stressful times. Staff gave generously, with some even cashing out their excess leave to donate to the fund, and helped provide timely support to 131 colleagues.

The reality is that University staff will still encounter hardships, even as the need for direct COVID-19 support eventually diminishes. That is why, thanks to our community's generosity, the Staff Relief Fund now extends beyond COVID-19 related assistance, to help staff members who are caring for family, under financial stress and unable to pay their bills, or facing unexpected health concerns.

Roxanne Missingham (BSc '76), University Librarian and Chief Scholarly Information Officer, is one of the 86 generous donors giving to support urgent staff relief. Meet Roxanne in this video, and hear why she chose to step up and support her colleagues through the Staff Relief Fund.
