Professor Rolf Zinkernagel AC is a Nobel Prize-winning immunologist and a leading figure in medical science.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1996 for his discoveries concerning how the immune system recognises virus-infected cells, which have had a lasting impact on immunology and medical research.
He has held senior academic and research leadership roles, including at the University of Zurich, and has contributed significantly to scientific advancement and global health.
