ANU University Strategy Community Engagement

The ANU Roadmap sets out our path from stabilising the University’s foundations to shape a strong future together. As part of this journey, ANU has begun developing the University’s next Strategy through a structured codesign process with our community.

Version 2 of the draft Strategy is now available, reflecting contributions from over 400 staff and students through facilitated workshops, surveys, individual submissions and targeted feedback sessions.

We are currently in the feedback phase — having listened to the ANU community through facilitated sessions, surveys and individual submissions, we are now refining the Strategy ahead of its launch. We invite feedback and input from our community no later than 14 July 2026, so that contributions can be incorporated into the final Strategy. The launch is planned for Friday 14 August 2026 at University House.

Following the launch, an Implementation Plan will be developed and shared with the University community by the end of 2026. This will detail the sequencing of activities and the measures of success for individual initiatives.

Developing the University Strategy through codesign

The last ANU Strategy concluded in December 2025. The next University Strategy has been developed through a codesign process that brought together leadership engagement, structured consultation and open community input.

The University Strategy reflects the knowledge, experience and aspirations of the ANU community.

The process includes:

  • Leadership discussions with ANU Council, University Executive and University Leadership Group
  • Facilitated sessions with our staff and student community
  • Consultation with alumni and external stakeholders through a variety of mechanisms, including surveys
  • Open opportunities for all of our community to contribute ideas and feedback

Over 400 staff and students participated in facilitated workshops, around 150 completed the survey, and many more contributed through individual submissions and targeted feedback sessions.

Engagement and next steps

Version 2 of the Strategy draft is now available. A full account of the co-design process, setting out how community feedback has shaped this version, is also available here.

Formal feedback on Version 2 is being sought from the University Council and Academic Board. We also welcome feedback from our broader community — please send your thoughts to strategy.codesign@anu.edu.au no later than 14 July 2026.
