Tiri Tiri Prize

Each year the Crawford School of Public Policy, College of Law, Governance and Policy may offer a prize known as the Tiri Tiri Prize.

Overview

The objective of the prize is to recognise the outstanding achievement in the Master of Environmental Management and Development.

The value of the prize awarded is $500.

The prize will be on offer each semester, unless otherwise advertised.

The prize will be on offer from 2025 to 2027.

Funding for this prize has been provided by the Crawford School of Public Policy.

The prize, originally established by the former Director of Graduate Studies in Environment Management and Development, Dr Padma Narsey Lal, is named after tiri tiri, the Fijian word for mangrove ecosystem.

Tiri Tiri symbolizes the types of theoretical and practical challenges covered in the Master of Environment Management and Development The prize acknowledges the many different concepts and analytical theories, as well as practical tools students require when addressing the goal of ecologically sustainable development. The Tiri Tiri prize hopes to promote excellence in environment management and development studies.
