You are receiving this message because the address you registered with The Australian National University is in Western Australia. If you have already travelled to the ACT, please disregard this email.
Hopefully the below information will help you plan your travels to Canberra in the coming days and weeks.
If you haven't already, please submit an expression of interest which will provide us with the information we need to assist with any quarantine or other requirements you may need.
If you will be flying to the ACT from a WA lockdown area this week on Thursday 4 or Friday 5 February, you must apply for an ACT Health exemption using the online exemption form as soon as possible. The reason for your exemption on this form should be "You are moving permanently to the ACT". This is in addition to our expression of interest form.
If you are planning to fly to the ACT on or after Saturday 6 February, put please submit an expression of interest and await further advice before travelling to the ACT. This is because, at present, the quarantine period for travelers from WA ends at 9pm on Friday 5 February (AEST).
You should not travel to the ACT if you have been in any of the high-risk locations listed on the WA website (see "Confirmed cases and outbreaks"). You must follow the advice of WA Health if you have been in these areas.
You will be required to wear a mask while travelling at all times apart from when you need to eat or drink.
If you live or are staying outside of the lockdown areas and need to transit through Perth Airport, you will not require an exemption and will not need to quarantine in the ACT. However, you should still wear a mask while travelling and transiting.
If you are unable to travel to campus due to travel restrictions, we encourage you to engage with our online activities and events to connect with your peers and our University community. Check out our Orientation Week program, and if you are living in on-campus accommodation, a program of online activities will be shared directly with you via your residence team.
We continually update our website with travel advice for entering the ACT. Please check this before making plans to travel to the ACT. You should also continue to monitor the ACT Health website for regular updates before making any plans to travel to the ACT.
If you need any further advice or information, please contact our COVID Response team.
We look forward to welcoming you to campus.
