International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) 2026

21 March marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) since declared by the United Nations in 1966. IDERD is an opportunity for our community to engage in conversation around issues with race and racism, question the various ways racism shapes our society, and redouble our commitment to anti-racism.

The same week is also known as Harmony Week in Australia. While Harmony Week invites us to celebrate our multicultural communities, it is important to remember it is also an important moment to engage in thoughtful conversations about racism, inequity, and the systems that allow discrimination to persist.
