I am a relative newcomer to the ANU, starting as the Head of Research Strategy for the College of Health and Medicine in September 2019, and am keen to broaden my understanding of University operations and be of more service. I bring to the ANU over 20 years of experience across all levels of government, the private and not-for-profit health sectors in Australia. I am passionate about evidence based policy, research translation and impact. In my last role at Commonwealth Health, I established the Medical Research Future Fund and championed national clinical trial reform. I consider myself a research enabler and feel privileged to be part of an institution that has a unique mandate to serve the nation. I believe a cohesive culture between academics and professional staff can improve education and research performance and productivity for the benefit of students and end-users: citizens, industry or governments. ANU must be a national role model in collegiality, collaboration, integrity, equity and engagement and I feel serving on the Academic Board will help me to positively support this agenda.
I bring to the position previous board experience and credentials (GAICD), a combined HASS and STEM background, networks and a unique multi-sector perspective.
