Policy Statement
Given the upheaval caused by COVID on academic teaching and delivery, I am deeply invested in ensuring the quality and value of our teaching, but also the working conditions and expectations of the academics tasked with delivering it. The increase in online learning is a important and positive development fostered by current necessities, however it is crucial that the workloads, skills and capacities of academic staff - and the policies that support them - are carefully considered when formulating new directions and expectations.
For this reason, while I will uphold and continue the broader work of the academic board, I would also seek solutions to the new challenges and uncertainties hybrid and online teaching has brought to many academics at the ANU, and work towards their implementation.
