Executive appointment - Chief Operating Officer
Hi everyone,
I am delighted to announce that after a competitive global search, we have appointed Jonathan Churchill to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Congratulations Jonathan!
Jonathan has been acting COO since June this year and has been our Chief Information Officer (CIO) since 2021. During his time as CIO, he led several key initiatives and projects, including the delivery of the ANU Digital Plan, a decadal strategy to transform the digital experience for our students and staff, designed to bring our campus into line as a modern 21st century university. He is a highly accomplished strategic leader with a clear track record of improving service quality and delivery and leading transformation in the higher education sector and I am delighted he has accepted the role in the executive leadership team.
In more recent months, Jonathan has led the work of reshaping the way we deliver professional services and is chairing the taskforce reviewing our non-salary expenditure. These are critical projects that will enable the University to be successful in a changing external environment.
As the national university, we have a clear mandate to provide the research and education capacity for Australia and our region. To achieve this, we must ensure our operations and professional services underpin all that we do - from research, to teaching to administrative services - and I know Jonathan is best placed to continue to enhance the COO Portfolio and professional operations across the University.
An announcement for the Chief Information Officer arrangements will be made shortly.
Please join me in congratulating Jonathan on this appointment!!
Genevieve
Vice-Chancellor and President
