ANU staff celebrate their achievements at awards ceremony

24 Nov 2021

Each year I am proud to be part of such a great community – a place where we support each other’s ideas, foster innovative new approaches and come together to solve challenges facing our nation and beyond.

After another tough year living and working through the pandemic, ANU staff came together virtually to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues at the 2021 Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor's Annual Awards last night.

Distinguished Professor (Emeritus) John Braithwaite, from the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet) at ANU, was awarded the highest accolade for ANU staff - the 2021 Peter Baume Award. The award recognises his distinguished 38-year career as a researcher and educator in the fields of sociology and criminology.

Nine other awards were presented to staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their workplaces.

The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor Annual Awards acknowledge awardees' outstanding contribution and commitment to developing and maintaining a vibrant campus environment.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt said coming together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the University's professional and academic staff was important, particularly after another challenging year with the pandemic.

"Each year I am proud to be part of such a great community - a place where we support each other's ideas, foster innovative new approaches and come together to solve challenges facing our nation and beyond," Professor Schmidt said.
