50 Years Shine-Dalgarno: The Impact of RNA Science and Innovation

Presented by ANU College of Health & Medicine

This symposium will celebrate the history and future of Australian RNA science, starting with a tribute to the work here at The Australian National University (ANU) that discovered the Shine-Dalgarno sequence in mRNA. The event, hosted by the ANU College of Health and Medicine, will also formally launch the Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation.

The Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation integrates world-leading RNA biology research with advanced enabling infrastructure, allowing us to meet future biomedical challenges in partnership with industry, government and academia.

This symposium will start after lunch on Monday, 5th June 2023, with a celebratory session including leaders from ANU, industry and government, and presentations by key scientists involved in the discovery of both the Shine-Dalgarno sequence and the mRNA cap structure.

The Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation is working in conjuction with its principal academic partner, A-RNA to bring this Symposium to the Shine Dome in Canberra.

Seating will be limited for this event, so ensure you register as soon as possible.
