Avan Daruwalla (she/her) is a 4th year student studying a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and a Bachelor of Development Studies. She served as the ANU Women's Officer in the ANU Students' Association for two years (December 2020 - December 2022), providing representation, advocacy and support for women and gender diverse ANU students. She was a speaker at the Women's March for Justice, Reclaim the Night Canberra and the YWCA She Leads Conference. Previously, Avan was a Senior Resident at Wamburun Hall (2021) and President of the Interhall Social Council (2020). Avan currently works as a Policy Officer at the ACT Council of Social Service.
Avan is passionate about improving the ANU's sexual violence prevention and response frameworks and ensuring that students from diverse intersectional backgrounds are safe and well-supported.
