Your Graduation Day

 

What to expect on the day

Your graduation day will centre around the School of Music precinct; here you will collect your regalia from the Peter Karmel Building; register your attendance at the Larry Sitsky Room; attend the graduation ceremony at Llewellyn Hall; and access photography and other graduation services in the Athenaeum.

Please find below an overview of your graduation experience.

 

Step 1 - Regalia Collection  

Graduation regalia [gowns, hoods, mortarboards, bonnets etc] will be available for collection from the Peter Karmel Buildingon the day of your graduation ceremony.

Further information on regalia will be available here closer to the July 2024 Conferral of Awards Ceremonies. 

 

Step 2 - Registration  

Graduand registration will open 90 minutes before your ceremony. 

To confirm your attendance on-the-day of the ceremony, you must officially register in-person. Please proceed to the Larry Sitsky Room in the School of Music [Building 100] to register. You will be provided with your ticket at the registration table; students must sit in their allocated seat.

You should register no later than one hour prior to your ceremony commencement time. 
 

Step 3 - Graduation  

Your graduation ceremony will take place in Llewellyn Hall [School of Music], commencing strictly at the advertised start time. Please ensure you have completed Steps 1 and 2 prior to making your way to your allocated seat.

All graduands and guests must be seated 15 minutes prior to your ceremony commencement time. Movement will be kept to an absolute minimum within the venue. 

A standard graduation ceremony will take approximately 90 minutes.

All events will be live-streamed (links will be published closer to the ceremony date). 
 

Step 4 - After-ceremony celebration  

Following your graduation ceremony, we would like to invite you to a celebratory reception at the Piazza, outside of the School of Music. Canapes and refreshments will be provided free-of-charge.  
 

Step 5 - Photography, Framing

Photography and framing services will be available in the Athenaeum, located in the foyer of the School of Music. Photography studios are open before and after the ceremony. 

Other graduation memorabilia, such as soft toys, rings, and flowers will also be available for purchase.
 

Step 6 - Regalia return

Please return your regalia - if hired - to the Peter Karmel Building [see closing times above in Step 1].

Risk mitigation measures - COVID-19

We aim to make your ceremony as enjoyable as possible and cannot wait to celebrate with you and your guests! 

Please help us make this a safe event by following these measures:

  • the event is limited to graduates and ticketed guests only;
  • cloaking facilities will not be available, please keep your personal belongings with you;
  • you and your guests acknowledge and agree that you/they do not have symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Further, the University reserves the right to put in place additional risk mitigation measures.
 

If you can no longer attend

If you or your guests test positive for COVID-19, develop symptoms or cannot attend for any reason, please let us know at graduation.officer@anu.edu.au.  Don't worry, you can attend a future ceremony.
