Dr Leigh Ellis

BSc (Hons) '04, PhD '08

Dr Leigh Ellis graduated with a PhD in Medical Science from The Australian National University (ANU) in 2008. He was recruited to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins to start his postdoctoral training.

With his mentor, Dr. Roberto Pili, Leigh moved to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.

In July 2012 he was promoted to faculty and is now an Assistant Professor of Oncology running his own research lab.

In the time Leigh has also been awarded a Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award.

Leigh's work primarily focuses on dissecting molecular mechanisms that drive aggressive prostate cancer, and discovering more specific biomarkers and therapeutic options for this lethal disease.

Leigh is a member of the Society of Basic Urologic Research (SUBR), the Epigenetics Society, and an associate member of the American Association for Cancer Research.
