Inward Bound - 60th Anniversary
Mark your calendars - this year’s Inward Bound event is scheduled for 7 and 8 October.

Inward Bound is an annual orienteering-based ultramarathon for ANU students from the 10 undergraduate residential halls. Around 270 students participate and are dropped in groups of 4 at an undisclosed location in the ACT/NSW bush. They must use map-and-compass navigation techniques to identify the location of the Endpoint, plot an efficient route there and ultimately run between 30 and 100km to the Endpoint where over 1000 of their peers celebrate their arrival.

This year’s event is especially significant as it marks the 60th Anniversary of the first Inward Bound held at Bruce Hall in 1962.

We’ll see you at Endpoint!

The darker side of ducks
Spring isn't all it's quacked up to be. Pollen levels are high, magpies are terrorising cyclists and pedestrians alike, and protective duck parents are in attack mode.

Andrew Cockburn is an ornithologist from the ANU Research School of Biology. He says that male ducks are the ones most likely to hiss at or chase after people during spring.
