A window to our past
When Isabel McBryde (pictured) joined the ANU Department of Prehistory and Anthology in 1974 as Senior Lecturer, she was already a pioneer in her field.

Over her career, Isabel articulated a different vision for archaeology, one that altered the course of the discipline and historical consciousness in Australia.

Organised, precise and thorough in the field, she was equally effective as a teacher, inspiring generations of students.
