Scholarship for a Legal Internship in London

This financial support is currently not available.

The ANU Law School is proud to offer a rare opportunity for one student to undertake a Legal Internship at the International Bar Association in London. The opportunity has been made possible by the College's alumni community in London.

The aim of the internship is to provide realistic, high-level and varied legal work experience through a supervised internship. Whilst the internship itself is unpaid, the selected recipient will be provided with a scholarship valued at £4,000.

The internship will be conducted remotely in 2021.

Field of study

The award is available each year to a continuing ANU student who:

  • is a domestic or international student; and
  • is enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree (whether undertaken as a single or flexible double degree) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree (whether undertaken as a single or vertical double degree) in the ANU Law School; and
  • has successfully completed 90 units of LAWS coded courses; and
  • has a strong academic record and is able to demonstrate their capacity for the self-reliance which the internship demands.

Selection is made on the basis of academic merit and application. Applicants who have strong academic merit, possess strong critical thinking, writing, and communication skills, the capacity for hard work and are motivated to experience the practice of law internationally will be favourably considered.

  • A 12 week supervised internship with the IBA
  • £4,000 scholarship (normally used to assist with airfares, accommodation and day-to-day living expenses whilst undertaking the internship)

The opportunity to experience realistic, high-level and varied legal work experience in London and gain an insight into the development of domestic and transnational legal policy that you wouldn't otherwise experience.
