About this scholarship
Each year, the Tjabal Centre may offer the Rotary-Alf Gillespie Bursary for Indigenous Australian Undergraduate Students with the aim of encouraging Indigenous Australian students to continue with tertiary education and also to study their own culture and history.
Funding for this Award has been provided by members of the Rotary Club of Canberra in honour of Alf Gillespie, who was a Rotary District Governor and Community Activist.

Eligibility
The Award is available each year to a continuing ANU student who:
- is a domestic student; and
- identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
- is enrolled in the third year of a Bachelor degree program and taking courses with a focus on the study of Indigenous Australian culture such as Archaeology, Anthropology, History and/or Linguistics.

The value of the award may change from year to year based on the return of the endowment.
The bursary paid in one instalment on acceptance of the offer.
There is no application as students are automatically considered based on them meeting the eligibility criteria.
Selection
Only applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria will be considered. Selection is made on the basis of academic merit. The Award is offered to the student who has completed 2 years of study at the ANU (minimum 84 units and maximum 96 units) and who has achieved the highest GPA, or WAM if necessary to break a tie, in those first two years of study at the University.
The Tjabal Centre reserves the right to make no award if it considers there is no applicant of sufficient merit. The Tjabal Centre may also vary the number of Awards and/or offer the Award at other times in exceptional circumstances or based on the standard of applications or students (where funds allow).
