Replacing Animals in Medical Research Honours Scholarship

Overview

This scholarship is to assist students enrolled in a one year Honours program, undertaking research utilising non-animal alternative methods to replace the use of animals or animal products in medical research, with a focus on Alzheimer's disease.  If the student is commencing Honours in Semester 1 or Semester 2 2020, then this may be with a focus on COVID-19.

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a current ANU student who:

(a)    is a domestic or international student; 

(b)    receives an offer of admission to an honours specialisation in the College of Health and Medicine, or the College of Science;

(c)    is undertaking research utilising non-animal alternative methods to replace the use of animals or animal products in medical research, with a focus on Alzheimer's disease. Or, if the student is commencing Honours in Semester 1 or Semester 2 2020, then this may be with a focus on COVID-19.
 

Benefits

The scholarship is valued at $10,000 p.a.  The duration of the award is one year.

How to apply

There is only one round of applications for this scholarship each year. If you are going to commence your honours mid-year (Semester 2) you must apply in this round. Applications open from 1 September to 30 November each year.


To apply, you must provide a 200 word statement describing the research that you intend to pursue during your Honours year and how you will be utilising non-animal alternative methods to replace the use of animals or animal products in medical research. This must be emailed to science.enquiries@anu.edu.au
