National Security College Entry Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Students

Overview

Each year the National Security College offers an award known as the National Security College Entry Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Students.

The objective of the Award is to support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island student while they study the Master of National Security Policy offered by the National Security College. 

Funding for this Award has been provided by the National Security College at The Australian National University.

Eligibility

The Award is available each year to a prospective or current ANU student who:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; and
  • is recognised as such by their community; and
  • receives an offer of admission to the Master of National Security Policy offered by the National Security College; and
  • is not the recipient of a Commonwealth Supported Place.

Benefits

50% of the degree's tuition fees are paid (payment is made for a maximum of 36 units out of 72 units).

How to apply

The application is submitted as part of the application for admission to the degree via the ANU Application Manager, as:

  • a statement of claims of no more than 500 words; and
  • a current Curriculum Vitae of no more than three pages; and
  • two (2) academic written references.

 The statement of claims should address the following questions:

  • What are your reasons for wanting to complete the Master of National Security Policy?
  • What are your long-term objectives and how will the degree and scholarship help you achieve them?
  • How do your circumstances align with the selection criteria listed in the conditions of award?

The academic references must be "closed envelope" references sent directly from the referee to the Senior Student Engagement Coordinator, at crawford.degrees@anu.edu.au.
 
Scholarships applicants must also submit an application for admission to the Master of National Security Policy via the ANU Application Manager.
