About this scholarship

 

The objective of the Award is to provide support to a law student originating from Queensland.

Funding for this Award has been provided by Lady Jessie Jane Groom, widow of Sir Littleton Groom. Sir Littleton Groom was an administrative and constitutional Lawyer who held the offices of Commonwealth Attorney General and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Award is available to a prospective ANU student who:

  • is a domestic or international student; and
  • is enrolled as a full-time Bachelor of Laws (Hons) student, whether undertaking study in a single or flexible double degree, at the ANU College of Law; and
  • has relocated from or is currently residing in Queensland; and
  • has gained entry to the University on the basis of secondary or tertiary qualifications obtained at a school, university or other institution situated in Queensland.

The value of the Award is a payment of $1,000 per year. The Award is paid in equal instalments after census date each semester ($500 per semester), for the duration of the degree or for up to five years, whichever is shorter.

Only one recipient can hold the award at any given time. Once the previous recipient has graduated or has exceeded the five year period, the ANU College of Law will re-open the applications for this award.
 
Please note that applicants need to conform to the University's concurrent scholarship position as outlined in clause 17 of the ANU Scholarship (coursework) procedure. The total annual scholarship limit can be found here. If you are holding a current ANU Academic or Sport scholarship, you can still apply for this opportunity. However, if you are selected for the program, you will need to rescind your current ANU Academic or Sport scholarship in order to accept this award.
