Defence Science and Technology Group (DST) Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Scholarship

Overview

Each year the College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Science, College of Health and Medicine may offer 3 awards known as the DST Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Scholarship ("the award").

The objective of the award is to encourage high-performing female students to continue studying in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields to improve the representation of female scientists and engineers.

Funding for this award has been provided by the Defence, Science and Technology Group (DST).

Field of study

Physical Sciences, Astronomy, Information, Computing and Communication, Mathematics, Human, Social and Health Sciences, Cyber Sciences, Systems Sciences, Earth Sciences, Engineering and Technology.

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a current female ANU student who:

(a) is an Australian Citizen;

(b) is enrolled in an eligible study program as listed on the scholarship website and has completed at least 48 units study;

(c) has a GPA of 5.00 or above;

(d) obtains and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at the level of Baseline. Students need to obtain the clearance before the University awards them the payment associated with their scholarship.

Eligible study programs are:

All undergraduate programs offered by the College of Engineering and Computer Science, AND

Undergraduate programs offered by the College of Science, where the program or a major is in Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Earth Sciences.

Benefits

The value of the award is stated in your letter of offer.  The duration of the award is maximum 4 years.  The award is paid in instalments at the beginning of each semester unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer.  The Scholarship is not payable while the recipient is on leave of absence from their studies.

The recipient is responsible for making payment of all tuition fees by the prescribed date as set out by the University each session.  Recipients of this award are responsible for the costs of books, study materials, accommodation and all other costs of study.
