Overview
The ASEAN-Australia Health Security Fellowship aims to strengthen cross-border collaboration in order to be best prepared to respond quickly to the health threats of the future. The Award enables delivery of capacity-building research and training programs in the ASEAN region, thus fostering professional development of field epidemiologists to detect and respond to disease outbreaks across the region. The Award is offered to support successful candidates from specified ASEAN countries, to complete the MAE program at ANU, and a field placement in their own country. In addition, the Award is offered to support successful Australian candidates to complete the MAE program at ANU, and a field placement in one of the specified ASEAN countries.
Funding for this Award has been provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Australian Government, through the Health Security Initiative for the Indo-Pacific Region.
Field of study
Eligibility
The Award will be available each year to prospective candidates who:
- Are Australian citizens or permanent residents, or citizens or permanent residents from the ASEAN countries specified on the University scholarship webpage, in the year of application;
- Meet the admission requirements (including English language requirements (refer to https://programsandcourses.anu.edu.au/2018/program/8721XMPHIL#admission-requirements and https://policies.anu.edu.au/ppl/document/ANUP_000408) and have been offered admission to enrol full-time in a program of study for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology at the University; and
- Qualify for the relevant visa, if required.

- Travel and accommodation costs to attend course block teaching and the final oral examination in Canberra
- A contribution towards removal costs (via reimbursement), if required to move for the field placement
