ANU Re-entry PhD Scholarship

Overview

The University each year offers a Re-entry Scholarships for graduates who wish to resume academic studies after a break of at least three years since formal enrolment in a university program, the break normally being due to fulfilment of family obligations.

Eligibility

  • Resuming academic studies after a break of at least three years since formal enrolment in a university program - the break normally being due to fulfilment of family obligations.
  • Bachelors degree with at least upper second-class honours, or a Masters degree with a research component or equivalent;
  • Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia.

Benefits

  • Travel and Removal allowances for students relocating to Canberra to commence their research program 
  • Thesis allowance
  • Paid medical, maternity and paternity leave

How to apply

Applicants are required to apply for admission prior to applying for this scholarship.

Applicants are required to submit a statement by 18 November setting out their case for award of the scholarship and indicating their circumstances in regards to the reasons behind taking a break from their studies. Applications should be emailed to hdr.candidature@anu.edu.au with ANU Re-Entry PhD Scholarship in the email title.

In order to be considered for this scholarship in the main round of scholarship offers students are required to apply for admission by 18 November. This scholarship will normally be offered at the beginning of each year. 

Applicants are strongly encouraged to make contact with the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application for admission, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
