National Access Scheme
The ANU NAS adjustment factor schedules are correct at time of publication: May 2023. Each ANU program has minimum admissions requirements that you need to meet or exceed to be considered for that program. Adjustment factors can contribute to your Year 11 result, ATAR or IB result, which will be used when assessing your eligibility for the program at ANU.
Under the National Access Scheme, there are Subject adjustments, Performer Adjustments and Educational Access Scheme (Equity) Adjustments.
Subject Adjustments
Applicants will receive Subject adjustment factors for their high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects. Senior secondary students do not need to apply for a subject adjustment from ANU. Subject-based adjustments are automatically added in accordance with the schedule. You may be considered for Subject and Performer Adjustment factors if you have:
- applied for an eligible ANU Bachelor degree program
- undertaken Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate
- achieved an ATAR or equivalent at or above 70
- not previously attempted tertiary study
- Achieved required marks that are listed on the Subject Adjustment Schedule

- Scores listed in this table reflect the minimum grade required for adjustment factors to be awarded.
- All ACT subjects must be completed as a Major at minimum, unless specified otherwise. The ACT marks indicated in this schedule are the scaled marks received at the end of Year 12. Refer to the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies for information on scaling in the ACT.
- ACT specialist mathematics must be taken as either a major/minor or double major to be eligible for subject adjustment consideration. This is equivalent to NSW Mathematics Extension 1 or 2. For subject equivalencies in other Australian states, refer to the UAC website.
Performer Adjustments
ANU provides performance-based adjustments for the achievement of an Australian Music Education Board (AMEB) Grade 8 or higher. Domestic applicants who achieved AMEB Grade 8 or higher at any time during or prior to your Year 11 and 12 studies are eligible for performer adjustment consideration. Applicant are required to send a scanned copy of the certificate and update it to their application for assessment.
Early Entry application applicants could receive 5 Performer Adjustment factors toward their Year 11 and Year 12 selection ranks.
When applying for an ANU Bachelor degree program, you may be eligible to receive subject or performance-based adjustments of up to 5 for all of the programs, except those listed below.

- Bachelor of Engineering (Research & Development) (Honours),

Educational Access Scheme (Equity) Adjustment
The Educational Access Scheme (EAS) offers 10 categories for ANU domestic applicants to apply for Equity Adjustments. This scheme provides an opportunity for applicants who have faced significant educational challenges during their Year 11 and Year 12 studies to have their circumstances taken into account. It helps students receive an offer to ANU.
To apply for EAS you must:
- able to demonstrate that you have experienced long-term educational disadvantage as a result of circumstances beyond your control or choosing during Year 11 and/or 12.
- undertaken Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate
- not previously attempted tertiary study
- an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of Australia (including a holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa).

When applying for an ANU Bachelor degree program, you may be eligible to receive equity-based adjustments of up to 10 for all of the programs; except for the following ANU Bachelor degree programs, you may be eligible to receive equity-based adjustments of up to 5.

How to apply
If you are applying to ANU through Early Entry Application:
Step 1 - Submit your Early Entry Application.
Step 2 – Log in to your application and select ‘Adjustment Factors’.
Step 3 – Click on the category you wish to claim, answer the follow-up questions and then click ‘Save’. Repeat for each category you wish to claim.
Step 4 – A box listing your selected category with a download link for the required documentation will appear. Download your Confirmation of Application and the document package for each of your claimed circumstances. The document package details the eligibility criteria for your claim and the supporting documents you need to provide.
Step 5 – Upload all your supporting documents to your application before the document upload deadline closes. (Key dates)

Documentation requirement:
- All documents must be legible and easy to read.
- All documents must be uploaded as PDFs to your application. No hardcopy documents will be accepted.
- If you have documents under a previous name: Supply evidence of your change of name, such as a marriage certificate, deed poll registration or other registration with the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages. The documentation must show your previous and current names.
- If your documents are not in English: You must supply a copy of:
- the document in the original language
an English translation of the document.
Your documents must be translated by Multicultural NSW (visit multicultural.nsw.gov.au) or a translator accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Note that NAATI itself does not provide translation services.
