Due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19, we have adapted our admissions process for undergraduate study at ANU in 2021.
We will now make offers based on Year 11 results on 10 August 2020, and these will be honoured for study in 2021 as long as students have completed Year 12.
Learn more about these changes and how it may affect your application, the co-curriculars and service requirement, or program pre-requisites in our admissions FAQs
These changes do not apply to non-school leavers and/or those who did not study an Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate program.

Be part of a diverse and vibrant campus community
Join the community of students who live on campus. Living in a student residence gives you an opportunity to form close bonds through shared experiences with your peers and neighbours. You will become part of an important support network as you help each other through assessments, exam periods, and the ups and downs of university life. A number of services are offered within each hall, college or lodge including pastoral and academic support as well as computer labs and co-curricular activities.
We'll find you a place to call home
If you want to live on campus, we will find you a home away from home. We guarantee an offer of accommodation in one of our Halls, Colleges, Lodges or other approved accommodation to all students who apply through the direct application process.
ANU has eleven different residences for undergraduate students. All have laundry facilities, outdoor spaces and study rooms, and are within easy walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants, sporting facilities, nightlife and public transport.
Know the cost
When you apply, you will be given the option to indicate preferences for self-catered, catered or flexi-catered accommodation and to identify one residence preference. This means your offer will come with transparency about the indicative cost of attending ANU and living on campus. For more information, visit our Cost Comparison webpage.
Eligible students can access the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), an incentive which allows ANU to offer accommodation at a rate below market value. You will be able to apply for NRAS accommodation during your direct domestic application.
Live in heart of the nation
Being the nation's capital, Canberra is home to the National Library, Parliament, the High Court as well as numerous museums and embassies opening endless opportunities to students.
You will live within walking distance of the centre of Canberra, with access to walking and cycling trails, nature reserves and ample opportunity to enjoy Canberra's nightlife.
Students submitting a direct application to ANU will no longer need apply separately for accommodation.
