  • Burton Hall was named after Professor Herbert 'Joe' Burton CBE (1900-1983).

Overview

B&G is a multicultural Hall, with people from all over Australia and all over the world, studying different degrees and at various stages of their studies. The cultural diversity of B&G allows its residents to experience deep and meaningful relationships.

Burton and Garran Hall has 512 single rooms and several larger rooms accessible to returning students.

Standard room at Burton & Garran

Standard rooms

Every room has large open windows which allow for good amounts of sunlight and airflow in the majority of spaces. Each room comes equipped with a desk and lamp, bookcase, bed and bedside table, chair, shelved walk in wardrobe, telephone (with voicemail), Internet connection and heater. Some residents like to have a small fridge (maximum height of 900mm) in their room for convenience. Each room is centrally heated during the colder months of April to approximately October. To make external calls using the provided phone, students must put credit on their phone account.

Please note

  • Cooking is prohibited in rooms
  • Residents are not allowed pets in B&G buildings or grounds
  • For safety reasons, residents must not bring non-standard electrical items, including electric blankets, heaters and air-conditioners, etc
  • Smoking is not permitted indoors. Smoking is only permitted in the designated outdoor area
