Gowrie Hall is a community of students from ANU and accommodates 517 residents in a variety of self-catered accommodation options. The building blends the ANU residential experience within a leafy, convenient inner-city location off-campus. The building is set up to enable academic success, deliver pastoral care and leadership opportunities for its residents.
Gowrie Hall offers several types of dwellings including standard rooms, ensuite rooms, studios, twin-share, also one and three bedroom apartments which have shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Individual rooms are private with swipe card access. All rooms are furnished with a bed, study desk, cupboards, heater, and have access to the campus wifi. Each level of Gowrie Hall offers a Male, Female and Unisex bathroom and its own laundry and drying facilities.
Weekly rates include utilities and range depending on your room type. There is also an upfront fee that covers the security deposit, application and community spirit fees. Occupancy agreements are for 43 weeks with the option to extend over the summer. Rent is paid a fortnight in advance via direct debit from an Australian bank.
Gowrie Hall is a self-catered hall with the kitchen space equipped with gas burners, electric ovens, refrigerators, freezers and microwaves. Students need to provide their own cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery.
Residents are provided with a large communal cooking area on the ground floor and residents have access to allocated fridge and freezer space and a lockable cupboard. All residents are expected to keep these common areas clean. Each level has their own small common area with kitchenette facilities with chairs, table, microwave and fridge. All other appliances need to be self-provided by the residents at their own expense.

Utilities are included in occupancy fees.
Phones are available on the ground floor of each lift lobby and reception to make internal calls to Residential Advisors.
Computer & Internet facilities
Gowrie Hall has an ANU supported computer lab which provides access to computer facilities, including printing and free internet access. Access to the campus wifi is available in all resident rooms.
Distance to amenities
Gowrie Hall is also located in Braddon and is approximately 2km from the ANU Acton campus. It is approximately 20 mins walk to the Canberra CBD and a 10 minute walk to Braddon - with both areas offering retail stores, restaurants, cafes and banking facilities. There is public transport right on your doorstep that can take you to Canberra City, Belconnen, or Woden. Cycling is encouraged and free, secure, lockable bike storage is provided to residents.
There are several large communal areas including lounges, theatres, study rooms, computer labs and meeting spaces including a pool table and ping pong table. Gowrie Hall also has a music room and art room with 24-hour access. These facilities are shared between all residents.
There is a limited number of reserved places on site at Gowrie Hall and requires a valid University parking permit. More information on transport and parking is available at ANU Transport & Parking. Canberra's network of bike paths is excellent and public transport easily accessible and the University promotes sustainable transport options. Free, secure, lockable bike storage is provided to residents.
Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and must contribute to cleaning their allocated kitchen areas they use on their floors and all rooms are inspected quarterly. Residents are provided with access to vacuum cleaners if required but other cleaning materials must be provided by the residents. Cleaning of common areas is done on a daily basis
There are a limited number of designated smoking areas located outside at Gowrie Hall.
Gowrie Hall has facilities for students with special needs including accessible rooms and lifts and ramps available throughout the building.
