UniLodge @ ANU - Gowrie Hall is a community of students from ANU and accommodates 517 residents in self-catered accommodation. The building blends the ANU residential experience within a leafy, convenient inner-city location off-campus. The building is set up to enable academic success, deliver pastoral care and leadership opportunities for its residents.
Room types and inclusions
Gowrie Hall offers standard rooms which have shared bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Individual rooms are private with swipe card access. All rooms are furnished with a bed, study desk, cupboards, heater, and have access to the campus Wi-Fi. Each level of Gowrie Hall offers a Male, Female and Unisex bathroom and its own laundry and drying facilities.
Gowrie Hall is a self-catered hall with the kitchen space equipped with gas burners, electric ovens, refrigerators, freezers and microwaves. Students need to provide their own cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery.
Residents are provided with a large communal cooking area on the ground floor and residents have access to allocated fridge and freezer space and a lockable cupboard. All residents are expected to keep these common areas clean. Each level has their own small common area with kitchenette facilities with chairs, table, microwave and fridge. All other appliances need to be self-provided by the residents at their own expense.
Utilities (electricity, gas, water)
Utilities fees are added to the room tariff. This covers gas, electricity, heating, water, phone and unlimited internet use.
Phones are available on the ground floor of each lift lobby and reception to make internal calls to Residential Advisors.
Computer & internet facilities
Gowrie Hall has an ANU supported computer lab which provides access to computer facilities, including printing and free internet access. Access to the campus Wi-Fi is available in all resident rooms.
Distance to amenities
Gowrie Hall is also located in Braddon and is approximately 2km from the ANU Acton campus. It is an approximate 20 minute walk to the Canberra CBD and a 10 minute walk to Braddon - with both areas offering retail stores, restaurants, cafes and banking facilities. There is public transport right on your doorstep that can take you to Canberra City, Belconnen, or Woden. Cycling is encouraged and free, secure, lockable bike storage is provided to residents.
There is a comprehensive academic and pastoral support network made up of the General Manager, Administration Manager, Residential Life Manager, Community Coordinators, senior residents, resident advisors and academic mentors. We offer a number of study rooms and flexi spaces. Our Residents Committee organises social, sporting and arts events regularly throughout the year.
There are several large communal areas including lounges, theatres, study rooms, computer labs and meeting spaces including a pool table and ping pong table. Gowrie Hall also has a music room and art room with 24-hour access. These facilities are shared between all residents.
A coin operated laundry with washing machines and dryers available. There is also a drying room in each location.
Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and must contribute to cleaning the common areas of the apartment. Vacuum cleaners can be borrowed from reception, but other cleaning materials must be provided by the residents. Apartments are inspected at least once a semester.
Smoking is prohibited in all University buildings.
Gowrie Hall has facilities for students with special needs including accessible rooms and lifts and ramps available throughout the building.
