When will I receive my offer?

Offers for students who are eligible for the accommodation guarantee will be issued on a rolling basis from 2nd January 2020. If you have not yet received your offer do not panic, continue to monitor your emails including your junk mailbox.  If you have not received an offer by January 31st please contact us.

If you are not eligible for the accommodation guarantee (for example a Postgraduate student or a continuing student), offers will be sent to you after all accommodation guarantee offers have been made.  We anticipate you will receive an offer by 31st January 2020.  If you have submitted an application and not received an offer by this date please contact us.

How do I accept my accommodation offer?

For those who have applied via the Admissions, Scholarships and Accommodation (ASA) application process, you must accept your accommodation offer in the ASA portal first. We will then send you the accommodation contract and balance of acceptance fees to finalise the process. Accepting accommodation in the ASA portal IS NOT acceptance of your accommodation offer.  Please follow the instructions in your formal offer email to accept and pay for your accommodation. 

For all other applicants who have not applied through the Admissions, Scholarships and Accommodation (ASA) Pathway, please follow the instructions in your formal offer email to accept and pay for your place.

What fees do I have to pay to accept my offer?

Your acceptance payment will vary depending on the residence you are allocated to (information can be found here).  Your acceptance payment is the sum of the following fees:

Registration fee (for new students only)

Refundable deposit

Resident Committee Fees

Two weeks rent

When do I have to accept my offer?

Please read your offer letter carefully as this will note your acceptance deadline, some deadlines could be as short as 48 hours.

If your Admissions, Scholarships and Accommodation (ASA) acceptance deadline was 10th January 2020, this has been extended to 17th January 2020.

Can I extend the date to accept my offer?

We are unable to extend acceptance dates as advised on your official accommodation contract.

We recognise students face a number of circumstances that make it difficult to commit to your accommodation offer.  We experience a high demand for our accommodation and the ANU is committed to giving as many students as possible an opportunity to live in on-campus accommodation. 

If you have been affected by the bushfires and therefore unable to accept the offer for some reason, please get in contact with us and we will assist you.

Can I change my mind after I accept my offer?

If you decide to accept your offer and later change your mind, you can cancel your offer but you will lose the registration fee.  Please make sure you cancel prior to the occupancy agreement start date as cancellations after that date could result in your being liable for rent until the space is occupied.

I've received my offer of study but not my accommodation offer. 

Please contact us and we can assess whether you do have an application and we can provide you further advice. We are unable to offer accommodation to an applicant who has not submitted an accommodation application. 

If you have not applied for accommodation, you must submit an application for accommodation through our portal.

Can I decline my offer?

Yes, of course it is up to you to decide if you want to live on campus of not.

If you decide to decline the offer but later decide you want accommodation, you can contact us to reactivate your application.  Please note if you decline your offer for guaranteed accommodation, any further applications will no longer be eligible for the guarantee.

Can I submit a late application?

Yes, but please note your application will not be eligible for guaranteed accommodation.  Offers will be provided as spaces are available.  We advise you also review our off campus accommodation options to ensure you are not left without accommodation. 

Can I change my preference?

Unfortunately, you are not able to change your preference. ANU does have a transfer round mid-semester, while this is not guaranteed we will try and assist you were possible.

When should I arrive at my Residence?

Your occupancy agreement will provide you with details of your contract start date.  For students moving into the UniLodge managed Residences, check-in and arrival is 1st February 2020.  For all other Residences, check-in and arrival is 5th February 2020.  If you plan to arrive after the contract start date, please do let the Residence know of your planned arrival date.

What do I need to know before move-in day?

Your Residence will provide you with a pre-arrival and O-Week guide.  The booklet is your one stop shop for everything that you need to know before your move in date, including the college-run events that will take place duirng n-week and o-week.  The booklet is either sent to you by email or is available to you when you arrive at your Residence.

What do I need to bring with me?

All Residences contain a bed (with mattress protector), wardrobe, desk, chair and a sink. You should bring your clothes, toiletries, sheets and blankets/duvet. If you are going to be living in a self-catered residence you should also bring your cooking utensils and equipment.  Please refer to moving-in for more information.

How to I get from the airport or bus station to my Residence?

The ANU provides a free welcome services at the Canberra Airport and Jolimont Bus Centre to all undergraduate, postgraduate and exchange students to help you arrive in time for orientation.  The service will pick you up from the Airport or Bus Centre and drop you off at the ANU Residences.  You will need to register for the service.  More information can be found at welcome-service
