I am a new student starting in Semester 2 2020 and I would like to know when will I receive my offer?

Accommodation offers for students,commencing in Semester 2 2020, who are eligible for the accommodation guarantee will be issued on a rolling basis after the portal closes for Semester 2 2020 applications. If you have not yet received your offer do not panic, continue to monitor your emails including your junk mailbox. If you have not received an offer by 30th June 2020 please contact us at

If you are not eligible for the accommodation guarantee (for example a Postgraduate student or a continuing student), offers will be sent to you after all accommodation guarantee offers have been made. If you have submitted an application and not received an offer by 6th July 2020 please contact us at for an update.

How do I accept my accommodation offer?

Please follow the instructions in your formal offer email to accept and pay for your accommodation. 

What fees do I have to pay to accept my offer?

Your acceptance payment will vary depending on the residence you are allocated to (information can be found here).  Your acceptance payment is the sum of the following fees:

Registration fee (for new students only)

Refundable deposit

Resident Committee Fees

Two weeks rent

When do I have to accept my offer?

Please read your offer letter carefully as this will note your acceptance deadline, some deadlines could be as short as 48 hours.

Can I extend the date to accept my offer?

We are unable to extend acceptance dates noted on your official accommodation contract unless otherwise advised. If you are experiencing difficulty in accepting or making your payment please contact the Residence you received the offer from immediately to discuss what options are available to you.

We experience a high demand for our accommodation and the ANU is committed to giving as many students as possible an opportunity to live in on-campus accommodation. 

Can I change my mind after I accept my offer?

If you decide to accept your offer and later change your mind, you can cancel your offer.  If you notify the Residence prior to the 6th July 2020, you will lose the $300 registration fee.  If you notify the Residence after the 6th July 2020 but prior to the start date of the occupancy agreement you will lose the $300 registration fee and a $300 cancellation fee will apply.  If you notify the Residence ON/OR after the start date of the occupancy agreement, the Early Termination/Departure process will apply.

Further information about your cancellation and refund of the relevant fees will be sent once verified/approved by the accommodation services team.

I've received my offer of study but not my accommodation offer. 

Please contact us and we can assess whether you do have an application and we can provide you further advice. We are unable to offer accommodation to an applicant who has not submitted an accommodation application. 

If you have not applied for accommodation, you must submit an application for accommodation through our portal.

Can I decline my offer?

Yes, of course it is up to you to decide if you want to live on campus of not.

If you decide to decline the offer but later decide you want accommodation, you can contact us to reactivate your application.  Please note if you decline your offer for guaranteed accommodation, any further applications will no longer be eligible for the guarantee.

Can I submit a late application?

Yes, but please note your application will not be eligible for guaranteed accommodation.  Offers will be provided as spaces are available.  We advise you also review our off campus accommodation options to ensure you are not left without accommodation. 

Can I change my preference?

Unfortunately, you are not able to change your preference. ANU does have a Transfer process, while this is not guaranteed we will try and assist you where possible.

When should I arrive at my Residence?

Your occupancy agreement will provide you with details of your contract start date.Most Residences will have check-in and arrival of 15th July 2020.  If you plan to arrive after the contract start date, please do let the Residence know of your planned arrival date, noting you are still required to make payment from the start of your contract.

What do I need to know before move-in day?

Your Residence will provide you with a pre-arrival information.This is sent to you by email once you accept your offer of accomodation.

What do I need to bring with me?

All Residences contain a bed (with mattress protector), wardrobe, desk, chair and a sink. You should bring your clothes, toiletries, sheets and blankets/duvet. If you are going to be living in a self-catered residence you should also bring your cooking utensils and equipment.  Please refer to moving-in for more information.
