'Yes-people' unite: growing the asset of assertiveness

Knowing how to clearly and directly communicate your needs and opinions is an invaluable skill in personal and career settings. This seminar will explore the roots, features, and expression of assertiveness, with ideas on growing the seed of assertive communication. Being agreeable and cooperative are often highly regarded characteristics, but if occurring in excess or at your own expense, can have a dark side. If you often say yes to requests with disregard for your own needs, apologise for events beyond your control, or approach conversations hesitantly or with self-doubt, you might learn something of use. Amongst the fruits of assertive communication are: to be heard and understood clearly, to have your own needs respected, be able to say no when you want, and to more confidently express your opinions. I invite you to come along and learn more.
