In the first staff thank you event held by ANU over Zoom, Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt joined the ANU executive in thanking the University’s staff for their tremendous efforts over 2020 dealing with the smoke, hail storm and now COVID-19 pandemic.
The man behind a geological tool used to measure rock formation, Mervyn Paterson, has died aged 95. Professor Paterson is considered one of the forefathers of the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences and his 50 year old machine, the ‘Paterson apparatus’, is still in operation today.

Eligible staff will be invited to vote on deferring the scheduled pay rise for July 2020 and July 2021 under the ANU Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
