Peter Collignon AM is an expert in infectious diseases.
He is involved in a number of public health projects dealing with different infections and their risks. His main areas of interest include antibiotic resistance (especially in Staph), infections acquired in hospitals and the use of antibiotics in food animals.
He is also interested in how hospital procedures can be improved to minimise the infection risk for patients.
Peter has been involved in many projects looking at the efficacy of the influenza vaccine and how it could be improved, as well as Lyme disease and its presence in Australia.
He also works as a physician and microbiologist at the Canberra Hospital.
