Dr Nathan Emmerich is a Research Fellow in bioethics at the ANU College of Health and Medicine. He is primarily interested in medical ethics and the notion of ethical expertise. His areas of expertise include bioethics (both human and animal), ethics at the end of life, biosciences, professional ethics (including healthcare and research), social philosophy and ethical questions associated with emerging biotechnologies.
Nathan is concerned with the social and anthropological nature of morality and ethics, as well as the relationship between the intellectual fields of applied bioethics and practical fields, like medicine.
He's also interested in modes of governance, including professional regulation and broader political processes.
