Dr Jennie Mallela's research focuses on the impact humans are having on our natural environment. She's particularly interested in the health of coral reefs, and contributing factors such as pollution and mining.

She's published research on the effects of land-based runoff on the Great Barrier Reef, and the impact of mining on reefs around Christmas Island.

Her other areas of interest include plastic pollution and coral bleaching, as well as climate change and biodiversity.
