Key Interests

Edward's research focuses on China's foreign policy, East Asian security, Chinese maritime history, and maritime politics.

He is interested in understanding China as a rising sea power and topical maritime security issues in the Asia-Pacific, including the East and South China Seas.

His current research focuses on the role of China's domestic maritime players in grey-zone operations and the interaction between Chinese and western maritime security ideologies.
