Ben's main research focus is computer code and the way it impacts all areas of our culture and society. He is fascinated by the ways humans and computers work together in this digital age, especially in creative fields like art & music.
Ben regularly performs as a musical "live-coder", writing computer code in front of an audience to generate music or visuals in real time.
He is passionate about teaching others how to code and encouraging young people from diverse backgrounds to take up STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects. He currently leads the code/creativity/culture research group in the ANU Research School of Computer Science.
