Samantha Bennett is sound recordist, guitarist and Associate Professor in the ANU School of Music.
Originally from London, her research covers all aspects of recorded popular music with a particular focus on technology, recording, and production. She holds a PhD in popular music recording techniques from the University of Surrey.
She is an expert in popular music production and how people listen to music.
She also has expertise in popular music genres, including rock, pop and R&B music and musical subcultures, particularly alternative, indie and punk rock. She has been approached by the media to talk about musicians like David Bowie posthumously, with a focus on their contribution to the music world.
