Today we held our second annual Commencement Ceremony to welcome our new students to the University with nearly 2,000 people attending out on the lawns of University Avenue. It was a spectacular event, and I thank everyone who was able to participate.
We had a memorable and moving Welcome to Country from ANU alumnus and Ngunnawal man Robbie Williams, with his cousin Billy T. Tompkins treating us to a smoking ceremony.
Our ANUSA and PARSA presidents reminded the students of all the services and activities that happen at ANU.
And finally, our alumni Jamila Rizvi and Therese Rein told their individual stories of how they managed to emerge as prominent Australian figures based on their passion and ANU experience.
If you weren't able to attend this year's event, take the opportunity to watch online. And make sure you join us next year to celebrate the arrival of the life blood of our university, its students.
