A new scholarship will offer ANU undergraduate students $10,000 and the chance to spend a semester at one of seven leading universities in China, Hong Kong or Singapore.
The Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarship will be awarded to four ANU students in 2016, spread over Semester 1 and Semester 2.
From 2017, five ANU students will be awarded the scholarship annually. It is open to full time students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Chief Executive Officer of Westpac Bicentennial Foundation, Susan Bannigan, said the scholarship will give ANU students from any discipline or walk of life the ability to build their own adventure beyond the classroom.
"We hope that this experience will springboard students into lifelong connections to Asia," she said.
"It's about creating an immersive experience for young leaders who want to gain a deeper understanding of the cultures of Asia and what Asia and Australia's relationship has for the future.
"Even if you are a little bit nervous and don't know what to expect from an Asian exchange experience you should give it a go because this scholarship will give you the opportunity to do more than just study."
Applications close 15 May and applicants will be notified by 31 August of the outcome of their application.
More information is available at the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation Asian Exchange website or on the ANU website.
