A group of 50 walkers from the medical and non-medical community, including a few enthusiastic pets, donned their best tropical outfits for the Fiji Village Project’s first fundraising event of the year, a 5km walk/run around the University campus, on Saturday 12 April.
Each participant donated $5, allowing organisers to raise $350 to help disadvantaged communities in Fiji conduct health screenings, education programs and water projects.
The Fiji Village Project (FPV) is a non-profit student initiative that involves medical students from around Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Following the walk, everyone enjoyed a BBQ and bake sale with prizes on offer for the best dressed and the winner of the fun-run, ANU student Peter Bennett, who won a $50 Rebel Sport gift voucher.
Organisers wish to thank ‘The Butcher Shop’ Dickson, ‘Bakery Culture’ Jamison and ‘Perfect Poultry’ Civic for their generous donations.
The FVP ANU chapter is planning its next fundraising event in conjunction with the Medical School’s musical production, ‘Caecal Weapon 2’, with performances at ANU from May 7-10th. We would love to see you there.
