The ANU has appointed prominent business academic Professor Byron Keating as Director of the Research School of Management in the University’s College of Business and Economics (CBE).
Professor Keating, an Australian Research Council Linkage Industry Fellow, is the former Head of the School of Management at the University of Canberra. He has also held positions at the University of New South Wales, the University of Wollongong, and the National University of Singapore.
During his career Professor Keating, the sole academic member of the Australian Government's Service Leaders Group, has focused on bridging the gap between industry, government and academe and his expertise is regularly sought by industry and government.
Dean of CBE, Professor Shirley Leitch, congratulated Professor Keating on his appointment and said she looked forward to working with him.
“Professor Keating is a world-class researcher with a strong record in fostering collaboration with industry and government. He will be an invaluable addition to our leadership team,” Professor Leitch said.
Professor Keating has published more than 100 articles on the role and impact of emerging technologies on the design and delivery of complex services. He is currently associate-editor of the Journal of Service Management.
“I am honoured to be the new Director of the Research School of Management,” Professor Keating said.
“I am very conscious of the significance of the position in the national and international landscape and of the tremendous concentration of excellence in the Research School.
“We have an important responsibility to apply our research expertise to provide thought leadership for Australia's private, public and community sectors. That responsibility includes educating and developing the next generation of leaders for industry, government and society.”
Professor Keating will take up the position in February.
