Meet your 2020 ANUSA executives – Sophie Jaggar

10 February 2020

The beginning of the academic year is fast approaching and that means it's a great opportunity to introduce you to the 2020 student executives at the ANU Students Association.

With Orientation Week just around the corner, we'd like to introduce you to Sophie Jaggar, this year's Social Officer.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us Sophie. What are you studying and when is your expected completion date?

I am about to start my fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws (Honours), with my arts specialties being International Relations, French Language and Criminology. I expect to finish by the conclusion of 2021.

What was the last book you read and would you recommend it?

I am an avid reader of mystery thriller books. The last book I read was Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I wanted to read the book before I watched the movie, and I would highly recommend it if you enjoy dramatic thrillers (and the movie as well)!

What is your favourite dessert and why?

I think my favourite dessert is Crème Brûlée, because I thoroughly enjoy French food and it is a luxury that I can not cook for myself.

If you could invite a star to a party, who would you invite and why?

I have always been into acting ever since I was a child, so I would love to invite Maggie Smith to my party because she has such a broad range of experience that I would love to hear her talk about, and also because she is a female actor that is an incredible role model.

What are you hoping to focus on in your role for 2020?

I am hoping to focus on fostering collaboration between ANUSA and its Departments in a social capacity, pursue a dedicated focus on making events accessible and safe, and encouraging diversified feedback systems to better ANUSA going into the future.
