Indie pop artist to play at Floriade

7 September 2014

Indie pop artist Bob Evans (aka Kevin Mitchell) will headline the ANU School of Music’s Rhythm & Blooms concert series at Floriade 2014.

The ARIA award-winning solo artist, who emerged on the Aussie alternative rock scene in the late 90’s as the vocalist and guitarist for acclaimed Perth band Jebediah, will perform at the annual flower festival’s opening weekend on 13 September.

Bob Evans’ most recently released album Familiar Stranger (2013) showcases a progressive pop sound. It breaks away from the alternative-country style of his previous albums, presenting mature songwriting and a more synthetic background of subtle harmonies and electronic playfulness.

Mitchell, under the moniker of Bob Evans has won awards for Best Male Artist in Rolling Stone Australia’s 2007 annual reader poll, was a finalist in the 2007 Australian Music Prize, along with multiple ARIA award nominations.
