Cricket legends come to ANU

1 December 2014

Cricketing legends Glenn McGrath and Mike Hussey made a guest appearance at the North Oval in November as part of a special event to donate a $10,000 cheque to the ACT Blind Cricket Association.

ANU senior lecturer in employment law, Cameron Roles, says the cheque means some of the Association’s blind cricketers have the finance to be able to represent Australia.

“It’ll also help us go out and find new players,” says Roles.

“We’re also hoping to send out a team to the National All-abilities championship coming up next year. It’ll also help us with the general running of the club and the local cricket competition.”

Roles says three of the Association’s players have been picked in the Australian team.

“We’re very grateful to ANU Sport and the ANU Cricket Club for all their assistance in particular in making North Oval available and the Milo T20 blast guys and the other guys from the ANU Cricket Club for coming down to take part in the day,” he says.
