COVID-19 Student Update - 24 March 2020

24 March 2020

Hi everyone,

I am writing you to from my home, where I am working today as I do not need to be on campus. I hope you're making use of your teaching pause week to catch up on study, or for some of you, to return home.

 This email will cover:

  • Living or studying on campus

  • Eform to confirm your current location

  • What you need to know

Living or studying on campus

Many of our you live in one of our residential halls or colleges. With the current teaching pause in place and travel restrictions being introduced in many states and territories, now is the time for you to consider whether you want to remain on campus or, if you have an alternative base, you may decide it is best to continue with remote study from home.

The residential halls and colleges will remain open for any resident who  wants to live on campus, and we are  introducing strict health measures to minimise the spread of COVID-19. Some of you may not be able to return home, either due to travel restrictions, health concerns or other reasons and you are very welcome to stay. We are increasing safety protocols so we can all practice good hygiene and social distancing. These include: temperature checks, signing in and out of residences and rostered use of shared facilities including bathrooms and kitchens. Please, please take these seriously, the safety of our community is everyone's responsibility.

For those of you planning to return home, please make sure you are aware of the travel restrictions in place and ensure you follow any requirements to self-isolate on arrival.

From Monday 30 March, almost all classes will be taught online. If you are living on campus, you will still study remotely and not attend classes in person. A list of exemptions is here.

Where are you? All students please complete the eform

So that we can make sure we look after you, please complete the eform detailing your current location, planned movements and health here: (or copy and paste the URL into your web browser: https://eforms.anu.edu.au/Infiniti_Prod/Produce/wizard/53b893e5-a835-4853-bef5-2aadf1d03296/). This important information will be kept private and will assist our teams to support you as circumstances on campus and in the wider community change.

What you need to know

Thank you for your patience as we work through these transition arrangements to ensure your safety and that we can still provide you the best educational experience possible.
