Students and staff are encouraged to view, and provide feedback on, the videos that were submitted for the next round of the 2018 ANU Grand Challenges Scheme.
Stage 1 of the 2018 ANU Grand Challenges Scheme received a total of 14 videos addressing fascinating and great interdisciplinary collaborative projects from a diverse range of research areas. We are now encouraging the community to view, engage, provide feedback and start conversations around these highly innovative projects.
Your ideas and feedback will inspire and excite the different Grand Challenges teams. Engage in the conversation today and give your input and feedback to the projects here.
"One of the aims of the Grand Challenges Scheme is to stimulate collaboration across the University's research community," said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Margaret Harding.
"The purpose of the videos is to inspire discussion and provide opportunities for researchers across different disciplines to find each other and to find novel and large-scale approaches to the Grand Challenges we are facing today.
"Please get behind your colleagues across the campus and support these amazing proposals."
Shortlisting at Stage 2 will be based on the videos submitted as well as a two-page proposal (which will be due on 25 June). At the end of Stage 2, the proposals will be assessed by an academic panel of experts who shortlists applicants for Stage 3. The projects will then be assessed by an external panel of experts before the finalists present their project at the Grand Challenges finals 'Pitch Night' on Wednesday 19 September. The final decision on the winning Grand Challenges will be made by the Vice-Chancellor on recommendation of the Grand Challenges Selection committee, on Thursday 20 September.
The ANU Grand Challenges Portal is open until Monday 25 June for your input and feedback to the 2018 Grand Challenges participants.
