Congratulations to ANU student Ben Treffers on his Commonwealth Games gold medal in the 50m backstroke event.
His time of 24.67 seconds earned the 22-year old his place on the Commonwealth Games podium in Glasgow alongside fellow Australian Mitch Larkin who secured silver.
Treffers did not make the podium in the 100m backstroke final.
In the lead up to the Games, Treffers underwent a period of heavy training which saw him spend up to 20 hours in the pool each week, with three weekly gym sessions.
Treffers has less than two years left of his Bachelor of Commerce degree.
