If you or your team use Alliance (or have content stored in Alliance), please read the below update from the Office 365 Collaboration Project Team.
For the past decade the Alliance platform has served us well; however, we are now in the final stages of preparing for its eventual decommissioning later in 2020.
By COB Friday 18th September, all Alliance user access will be downgraded to read-only.
What does this mean for you?
Until Friday 18th September:
- You can export your Alliance data to an appropriate repository or location.
- You can manually delete anything that no longer holds any value to you or the University.
- You can use the email function in Alliance to contact other site members.
From Friday 18th September:
- You will no longer be able to make changes to your Alliance sites.
- You will no longer be able to use the email function in Alliance.
This is your last opportunity to move your Alliance content to another appropriate storage platform.
We have already re-homed more than 200 sites to their new home in SharePoint, part of the the ANU Office 365 Collaboration suite. With many more SharePoint and Teams sites created every day, ANU users are enjoying the new features from this fully-supported toolset. Browse the ANU Office 365 Help site to see available user materials to get started.
I think my site may have been migrated from Alliance to SharePoint. How do I access it?
Please contact your Alliance site owner to obtain the details for the new SharePoint site. If you do not know who this is, you can contact us at Alliancemigration.email@example.com.
I've heard that you have migrated Alliance sites for other users. Will you still do that for me?
Unfortunately, now that the migration period is over, we are no longer able to migrate Alliance content for you.
If there are files remaining on Alliance sites that you wish to retain, you can follow this easy user guide, applicable for Windows and Mac users, for bulk content download from your Alliance sites and My Workspace before 18 September.
When will Alliance be decommissioned?
In late 2020, but your data might be deleted before then. If you need any content, please migrate it before 18 September.
That's it from us! We wish you all the very best with your future collaborations here at ANU. If you need any further info, head over to the 365 Help Site.
