2013 Twilight Festival Bake Off winner to enter Royal Easter Show

13 November 2014

The winner of last year’s Twilight Festival Bake Off says she will try her hand at entering a cake at the Royal Easter Show next year.

Andrea Butler, from the Research School of Physics and Engineering (RSPE), won a red KitchenAid mixer at the 2013 Twilight Festival after she produced the winning cake, a blackberry, white chocolate and mango cake.

“It has helped me to make delicious cakes for my friends and family,” she says.

“I was inspired to enter the Canberra Show this year and received two Third prizes and a Second prize. Not a bad effort for a first go.”

Butler, who works in the Director’s Office at RSPE, has thanked ANU and the College of Arts and Social Sciences for the prize for helping her to get into cake baking competitions.

Other winners from the 2013 Twilight Festival Bake Off were Cathy Newton, who won the best decoration award for her caramel mud cake of the Skywhale hot air balloon, while the best taste category was won by Cindy Depina for her butter cake shaped like a pair of thongs.

Information on how to enter the Bake Off and register to win a piece of art can be found at the ANU Twilight Festival web page.
